Is the Russian military using this beluga whale for spying?

Russia whales Norway military training

Marine experts suggest the beluga whale may be working for the Russian Federation military.

A marine biologist called Professor Audun Rikardsen said the harness had a special clip which could hold a GoPro camera, and a label on it which said it was from St Petersburg, a city in Russian Federation.

Marine experts in Norway believe they have stumbled upon a white whale that was trained by the Russian navy as part of a programme to use underwater mammals as a special ops force.

Scientists expressed concern at the tightness of the strap, NRK reported, saying the whale may have been injured if the strap been on for a long period of time. So we attached a hook and fastened it to the harness, and the whale swam away and tore the harness off.

The Guardian reported the whale's harness "seemed to be for a camera or weapon", and The Washington Post reported that researchers said it "could have carried weapons or cameras". "One of the videos shows the whale bobbing its head out of the water and opening its mouth".

Redick, via the Philadelphia Enquirer. "At this point I have confidence [Gasol can guard Embiid in single coverage]", Nurse said. After each losing their Game 1's, both teams completed the "gentleman's sweep" against their opponents with four straight wins.

He said there have been no reports of programs or experiments involving beluga whales.

The fishermen told reporters the whale continued to pursue their vessel and tried to pull the ropes from their boats' sides whenever they entered the water.

Audun Rikardsen, a professor at the Norwegian Arctic University, said he had contacted Russian colleagues, and neither Russian nor Norwegian scientists had put the harness on the whale. "They tell me that most likely it's the Russian navy in Murmansk", said Rikardsen. While that in itself might be interesting, the beluga in question was outfitted with a harness. "We have seen cases where other whales that have been in Russian captivity doing fine", he said.

Wiig believes the whale came from Murmansk, Russia, and was trained by the Russian navy. Since the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea, the Kremlin has been behind a series of creepy reminders of the massive military apparatus lurking on Europe's eastern outskirts: mystery submarines, unidentified jets that nearly crashed with a passenger plane in at least one instance, and unusual troop movements.

"We have military dolphins for combat roles, we don't cover that up", he said.
