Indian Army mountaineering team shares photos of suspected Yeti footprints

Indian Army the “mysterious footprints” of the Yeti is seen

The Indian Army claimed to have found the footprints of a mythical beast called ' Yeti' in the Himalayas. For starters, the army says they measure 32 inches (81 centimeters) long and 15 inches (38 centimeters) wide, which is about twice as long as an elephant's footprint.

The army's mountaineering expedition to Mount Makalu lasts between March and May with the objective of reaching all peaks above 8,000 meters, but nothing could have prepared the troops for a possible sighting of the "abominable" snowman.

The Yeti also features in traditional Nepalese folklore.

The army made its discovery three weeks ago, but said it only published it their images on Monday after deciding the footprints matched earlier theories about the yeti.

"BJP must be working out how to fit this into the rest of the campaign", tweeted National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, linking the Army's claim with religious beliefs. The twentieth volume in the series, "Tintin in Tibet", shows a trail of large footprints on its cover, while the plot follows a Chinese boy who gets lost in the Himalayas and is rescued by the Yeti.

The Yeti, or the "Abominable Snowman", is a mythical ape-like creature, the mention of which has been prevalent in Nepali, Indian, Tibetan, Afghan, and Central Asian folklores.

Almost half of Americans, 47 percent, said he had obstructed justice , while 41 percent said he didn't obstruct justice. It stands at 39 per cent following the release of the poll, historically low, but much different from its usual range.

In 2017, a group of worldwide researchers studied multiple purported yeti samples collected from across the Himalayan region and concluded they belonged to bears. It is the first time the Indian Army's expedition team has sighted it.

Although tales of the Yeti first caught the imagination of the Western world in the 19th century, the hairy ape-like figure, taller than a man, has always been a feature of folklore in Nepal.

They concluded the findings belonged to bears.

One 2014 DNA study, which looked at hair samples attributed to the Yeti from Ladakh and Bhutan, found the closest "genetic affinity with a Palaeolithic polar bear".

Due to the lack of evidence of the creature's existence, the scientific community has generally regarded the Yeti as a legend.
