European Union losing patience as British MPs vote again on Brexit options

Newspapers across the world including France have reacted to the latest Brexit blow for Theresa May

British parliamentarians are holding another round of "indicative votes" on Monday, in the hope of finding one plan that can command a majority.

Britain's exit from the European Union was in disarray after the implosion of Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit strategy left her under pressure from rival factions to leave without a deal, go for an election or forge a much softer divorce.

They were encouraged after the deputy leader of the pro-Brexit party, Nigel Dodds, said he would rather remain in the European Union than back Mrs May's deal.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, he argued the prime minister's deal was "the best outcome".

But the Conservatives are anxious that could hand power to the opposition Labour Party.

European Union leaders have called an emergency summit on April 10 and warned that unless Britain sets out a plan, it risks cutting ties with its largest trading partner two days later with no deal at all.

THE DUP has been warned that a no-deal Brexit puts the future of Northern Ireland's place in the United Kingdom in doubt. "I don't have any fear of no deal".

Smith's bold statement of unprecedented bad behavior was remarkable not only for what he said - but who said it.

However he admitted deciding to vote for it on Thursday before being talked out of it by friends. Another popular option last week, with 268 votes in favor.

House of Commons Speaker John Bercow chose the options from eight ideas submitted.

The customs union and second referendum proposals gained the most support. The results are not binding on the government.

"If we had been able to take part in this campaign, we could have asked - and also answered - many questions that are only being asked now", he added in assertions that the democratic decision of British citizens required the input of Brussels. Pro-Brexit lawmakers think it keeps Britain too closely tied to European Union rules.

Labour's deputy leader, Tom Watson, outraged party activists by suggesting Saturday a national unity government may have to be formed to find a way out of the political dead-end.

A process motion that says Parliament shouldn't ratify or implement any withdrawal agreement until it has been approved in a referendum. Campaigning for Remain, Mr Cameron resigned days after the people delivered a vote to leave.

Northern Ireland's DUP - which has propped up Mrs May's minority government - also continues to oppose the deal.

He indicated that the younger generation of contenders - which includes Dominic Raab, Liz Truss and Matt Hancock - should wait until after the next general election due to take place in 2022.

Conservative former Attorney General Dominic Grieve, who has campaigned for a further referendum on the deal, is facing deselection after losing a vote of no-confidence in his Beaconsfield constituency.

"I don't think an election would solve anything".

May's enforcer in Parliament - known as the chief whip - said the government should have been clearer that May's loss of her majority in Parliament in a snap 2017 election would "inevitably" lead it to accept a softer Brexit.

But he added: "We might be driven to it later".

The government has so far failed to win over 34 Conservative rebels, including both Remainers as well as Tory Brexiteers, who say the deal still leaves the United Kingdom too closely aligned to Europe.

Easyjet's rival Ryanair - whose chief executive Michael O'Leary has been vocal in his warnings about the risks of Brexit - said earlier this year that the airline "did not share the recent optimistic outlook of some competitors that summer 2019 air fares will rise".

Mrs May is expected to tell her Cabinet to abstain in this votes to avoid showing a deep division within the Government.
