Chance of rain mixing with snow later today

Heavy rain and snow will move into our region later in the afternoon and especially, into the evening. The temperature will drop to about 34 degrees overnight Saturday.

Back in the metro, rain showers will change to snow showers after dark, with snow showers continuing into Sunday. Those snow showers can linger into your Monday morning commute with any accumulations mainly on grassy surfaces. Similar winds will carry through much of Sunday as they gradually shift more to the north and northeast.

Several inches of snow is expected for many of our passes. Downpours and even a few rumbles of thunder may be possible through midday before rain tapers to showers by the afternoon and evening. This won't be a heavy snow event and will likely stay under advisory criteria. If we go 6 straight days without rain after Sunday, that would be the longest streak since August!
