Suspected serial killer confesses to 3 murders in Phoenix, FBI says

Ap Serial Killer Investigation Txode101

The murder convictions led to Little being referred to the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP) - a scheme that works to analyse serial offenders of violent and sexual crimes, and share information with local law enforcement agencies to cross-reference unsolved crimes.

Texas Ranger James Holland has been conducting almost daily interviews with Little, while Palazzolo and Williamson are examining mortuary records, death certificates and cold case files, trying to gather as much detail as they can to see if other unsolved murder cases can finally be closed. Palazzolo and Williamson said he would shoplift and steal in a city or town to gather the money to buy alcohol and drugs, but never stayed in one place for long.

According to the FBI, Samuel Little has confessed to Texas authorities that he is responsible for dozens of murders across the country. "He remembers where he was, and what auto he was driving".

An FBI report said he mainly preyed on drug addicts and prostitutes in a decades-long murder spree.

The FBI's Kevin Fitzsimmons said: "The biggest lesson in this case is the power of information sharing". Police charged Little with three counts of murder, and, in 2014, he was convicted and sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without parole. "Thus far, the team has confirmed 34 killings with many more pending confirmation".

The women in all three cases were beaten and strangled before their bodies were dumped in an alley, a dumpster and a garage. He has confessed to scores of other murders throughout the USA dating back to at least the 1970s.

Investigators say their bodies were often left unidentified and their deaths un-investigated by authorities.

If the FBI, along with the Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Texas Rangers and dozens of state and local agencies can corroborate Little's claims, he will likely be known as may be known "among the most prolific serial killers in US history", the FBI said.

The terms of the plea agreement waive any right to retract Manafort's guilty pleas, so he's on the hook no matter what. Of course this is all just speculation, and perhaps Manafort has other reasons for allegedly lying to investigators.

One killing in Odessa, Texas appeared to be particularly relevant, so two Federal Bureau of Investigation crime analysts and James Holland of the Texas Rangers went out to see Little and try to get him to talk. He remembers where he was and what vehicle he was driving, and he draws pictures of numerous women he killed; however, he is less clear about remembering the dates of the murders. Little was convicted four years ago over the deaths years earlier of the three women in Los Angeles area. "Jackson, Mississippi-one; Cincinnati, Ohio-one; Phoenix, Arizona-three; Las Vegas, Nevada-one".

A one-time competitive boxer, he used that to his advantage as his method of killing didn't always leave signs that the death was a homicide.

Little is now in a Texas prison. Investigators in MS and SC recently announced that they had closed cold cases based on Little's information.

The FBI also noted that many of Little's alleged killings "were not classified as homicides but attributed to drug overdoses, accidents, or natural causes".

A large number of the murders were also committed in the 1970s and early 1980s, before DNA profiling was common practice.

The FBI said Little is in poor health and is likely to spend the remainder of his days in prison in Texas. "These connections all started in our database of violent crime". However, it wasn't until recent times that investigators discovered the extent of his crimes. That is the value of ViCAP. "The goal now is to identify his victims and provide closure and justice in unsolved cases".
