U.S. President Donald Trump speaks as CNN's Jim Acosta standing at right listens during a news conference in the East Room of the White House

The tense relationship between Trump and reporters came to a climax earlier this week, when the president lashed out against Jim Acosta, CNN's chief White House correspondent, during a post-midterm press conference.

Ms Sanders said the decision was made as a result of Acosta "placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern". Acosta was trying to ask the president a question when Trump moved on to the next journalist and an intern tried to take away the microphone from Acosta, who continued talking.

But in a piece for The Washington Post, Ryan, who was the National Association of Black Journalists Journalist of the Year in 2017 said Trump often took swipes at women of color and she was simply the latest victim.

That assessment gained even more traction Thursday when The Associated Press, citing a video editing expert, reported that a video clip distributed by Sanders on Twitter had been "doctored" to make Acosta's contact with the aide appear more aggressive than it really was.

"Things have gotten contentious between the president and the press, but this is unlike anything we've seen since the days that African Americans were first allowed into the White House to report", said Marcia Chatelain, an African-American studies professor at Georgetown University.

Trump's scolds also drew attention as they came the same week the president repeatedly interrupted reporters who had accents, saying that he did not understand them.

On Friday morning, President Donald Trump unloaded on reporters for asking "stupid questions", their lack of intelligence, and their overall "nasty" behavior. CNN, she said, was irresponsible to suggest the president was to blame for a pipe bomb sent to the outlet in October. Trump also labeled a question from a reporter about whether he wants Whitaker to restrict Mueller's investigation as "stupid".

"Sometimes we ask questions that they did not like, and maybe there would have been a bit of retaliation and fight-back", Ryan added.

Over his career, Bryant has just one game played in the SuperDome, catching one pass for 44 yards in a 2013 blowout loss, 49-17. The Saints are rolling the dice a bit that Bryant will be a good locker room fit with a team that is on such a good run.

Rafael Nadal's season is over after he withdrew from the 2018 ATP Finals which start at The O2 in London on Sunday 11 November. I've been very close to making it for a number of years, but it just hasn't quite happened.

"When I stood up, in his response, he tells me to 'sit down, ' in a condescending, very ugly matter", Ryan said.

"President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration". In the meantime, Acosta has continued to report without physical access to the White House grounds; he is now in Paris to cover Trump's trip to France.

He spoke to the press again on Friday, and ridiculed CNN's Abby Phillips for asking a "stupid question".

CNN has labeled Sanders' characterization of Acosta's exchange with the intern as a lie. Trump interrupted her, calling it a racist question. He refused to respond to her question.

On another matter, the president called Acosta's exchanges with press secretary Sarah Sanders disgraceful. "They gave a close-up view".

None of this means that the White House is justified in removing Acosta's pass.
