Rep. Paul Gosar's own siblings endorse Democratic opponent in scathing ad

Representative Gosar has not yet responded to the ad campaign. "This is not who we are".

Paul Gosar, a four-term congressman who represents the Fourth Congressional District, noted that all of his siblings live outside Arizona.

In one of those ads, CNN reported, Paul's sister Grace Gosar, a rural physician, says, 'It would be hard to see my brother as anything but a racist'.

In one ad titled "A family defends its honor", Gosar's brother David says: "We've got to stand up for our good name, this is not who we are".

In another ad, Joan Gosar says she is saddened but feels obliged to speak out. Grace added, "I couldn't be quiet any longer".

"It's intervention time", he said, "when you go to vote, you go to vote...to vote Paul out".

In a series of videos, the siblings criticize Gosar's hardline stance on immigration, his support for U.S. President Donald Trump's border wall, his track record on the environment and his position on health care. "It is extremely upsetting to have to call you out on this, Paul, but you've forced our hand with your deceit and anti-Semitic dog whistle".

Gosar is a close ally of the Trump administration who has cheered on the crusade against top Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials. The Gosar siblings endorse Gosar's Democratic opponent, Dr. David Brill, in the spot.

Brill told the newspaper that while Paul's siblings are 'really upstanding, wonderful people, ' he has not yet met them and was not involved in the making of the ads so that he would not influence their testimonials. He is one of 10 children and three of his other siblings seemed to have not participated. In 2016, he won with 71 percent of the vote, and his mostly rural district is considered "solid Republican" by the Cook Political Report.
