CBS boss Les Moonves resigns after misconduct allegations

CBS President and CEO Les Moonves

Golden-Gottlieb said she hopes Moonves' punishment includes more than just his resignation as one of the most powerful media executives in the nation.

Hours after another bombshell report containing #MeToo allegations from six more women, CBS Corporation announced Sunday that chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves is out effective immediately - and, depending on how the investigation goes, he might not receive his financial exit package of as much as $180 million.

In July, actress Ileanna Douglas told Farrow that Moonves had pinned her arms down and forcibly kissed her during a business meeting, and fired her after she refused to participate.

Moonves is a major Hollywood figure, and was both "the public face of the company" and "an integral part of daily life at the CBS broadcast network and major assets such as Showtime and the nascent CBS All Access streaming service", according to Joe Adalian's analysis at Vulture. When she resisted later advances, she began to be frozen out at the company, she said.

"He took my whole career", Golden-Gottlieb, now 82, said on "GMA".

A variety of news sites stated earlier today that Moonves - already plagued with allegations of sexual misconduct over the course of his stellar career - was on the verge of resigning amid a new report in the New Yorker magazine detailing six women's allegations of sexual harassment involving Moonves in the 1980s and 1990s. Osbourne appeared shaken by the new wave of allegations against Moonves, particularly as she recalled how she was asked to defend Moonves months ago despite only knowing him on a "superficial" level. Moonves acknowledged relations with three of the complainants but claimed it was consensual.

"As I understand the allegations, and he denies them, but as I understand them, they allege that he used his corporate authority to badger and in some cases to force women to touch his body and in a way that they didn't want to", he said. "I can only surmise they are surfacing now for the first time, decades later, as part of a concerted effort by others to destroy my name, my reputation, and my career", he said. "Phylils said, 'Who would believe me? Moonves declined to specify which three encounters he considered consensual". "As you all know, Julie's husband is in the news, and she's taking off time to be with her family", Osbourne said.

In a note to CBS employees that was seen by Reuters, Ianniello did not mention the allegations against Moonves, saying that the company was in a position of strategic strength and that it was important to make clear the company's commitment to "diversity, inclusion and a safe and positive working environment".

Osaka Claims US Open Title After Serena Meltdown
In frustration during the changeover, Williams smashed her racquet, earning another code violation and a one-point deduction. Venus Williams was also targeted by Ramos for that, and like her sister, she too denied it, saying, "I'm 36 years old".

"Remember that the world is watching", Time's Up said in a statement.

CBS said it and Moonves will donate $20 million of Moonves' severance to organizations supporting the #MeToo movement.

CBS is reshaping its board as it pursues an independent investigation into Les Moonves, its ousted board chairman, with additional allegations of sexual misconduct continuing to surface.

While CBS appointed a team of lawyers to investigate, there was outrage from some advocates that Moonves, who is Jewish, was kept on the job. The investigation is ongoing.

Moonves, 68, who turned CBS from an aging radio and TV broadcaster into a provider of shows to digital platforms, was expected to reap an estimated $100 million in severance.

Multiple news organizations reported Sunday that Leslie Moonves, who had been negotiating terms for his departure, will step down imminently.

On Monday, O'Donnell reiterated the comments she'd made about Rose in November.

"This is really hard". "I haven't talked about this before because when you think about".
