Iran military chief tells Trump: 'We're ready to stand up against you'

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani

On May 8, Trump unilaterally withdrew the USA from the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal with Iran despite objections by Europe as well as Russian Federation and China - the other parties to the deal.

Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri said that USA threats will draw a "strong, unimaginable and regrettable" response from Tehran, according to IRNA.

"Trump's language is still the ethics of nightclubs and gambling halls", he continued.

The head of Iran's Quds Forces attacked President Donald Trump in a speech on Thursday, saying if the United States started a war Iran would "destroy all that you possess".

"You will start this war but we will be the ones to impose its end". We are ready to stand up against you. Earlier, Rouhani warned the United States from "games with a lion tail".

Major-General Qassem Soleimani challenged US President Donald Trump to address him regarding threats to Iran instead of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

Soleimani said it was his duty as a soldier to reply to Trump's rhetoric.

Trump says 'I gave up nothing' during Putin meeting
To some degree, it is good to know what the president believes about the intelligence on Russian Federation . Trump had just days earlier confirmed his acceptance US intelligence conclusions about Russian interference.

During a recent visit to Austria, Rouhani pledged that Tehran will stand firm against the U.S. threat to halt Iranian oil shipments, saying no other country in the region could export oil if Iran is to be deprived of oil exports.

Trump earlier this year pulled the United States out of the worldwide deal meant to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon and ordered increased American sanctions. "It is not in our president's dignity to respond to you", Mr Soleimani was quoted as saying by Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency.

United States officials are stepping up diplomatic efforts to pressure countries to stop importing Iranian oil.

Iranian military officials have threatened to immediately target Israel and attack USA military bases in the Middle East if war breaks out, Reuters reported.

During the first round of sanctions in 2012 when European Union joined the U.S. in imposing financial restrictions, India initially used a Turkish bank to pay Iran for the oil it bought but beginning February 2013 paid almost half of the oil import bill in rupees while keeping the remainder pending till the opening of payment routes.

The Iranian leadership was responding to the threat of USA sanctions after President Donald Trump in May pulled out of a multinational agreement to trade with Tehran in return for its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons.

Americans say by a more than two-to-one margin that they'd oppose going to war against Iran, a new HuffPost/YouGov survey finds.
