Federer breezes into third round at SW19

Caroline Wozniacki oshakes her head to avoid a swarm of insects that swept through the court during Wimbledon action on Wednesday.

Caroline Wozniacki battles flying ants during her Wimbledon loss.

No such problems for Federer, who won 35 straight points on his serve on route to beating Lukas Lacko of Slovakia 6-4, 6-4, 6-1.

Federer didn't drop a point on his serve in the entire second set and kept that streak going until he was 30-0 up at 4-1 in the third, when Lacko sent a backhand victor down the line.

Federer was relentless as he lost just nine of 61 total points behind his intimidating service.

"Just because it seems like they just hit like 312 aces a match, and, I'm, like, Wow that's a good serve".

The 36-year-old, whose winning run encompasses her Wimbledon titles in 2015 and 2016, missed the grass-court Grand Slam last year while she prepared to give birth to daughter Alexis Olympia in September.

North Korea's Kim asked China's Xi to help lift sanctions
Doubts over North Korea's intentions have deepened amid reports that it is continuing to produce fissile material for weapons. Japanese defense ministry officials were not available for immediate comment.

Kristina Mladenovic advanced to a Wimbledon third-round meeting with Serena Williams after defeating Tatjana Maria 6-2, 6-2.

Makarova, three days short of her 30th birthday, broke early to take command of the first set. But she was broken again in the final game, becoming the fifth of the top eight women's seeds to lose before the third round.

But so far the women's tournament has proved wildly unpredictable - even if seven-time champion Serena Williams has made things look easy with two routine victories.

American Madison Keys, the 10th seed, made sure she was not amongst the casualties when she beat Thailand's Luksika Kumkhum 6-4 6-3 on Wednesday, and there were also wins for ninth seed Venus Williams and number seven Karolina Pliskova. One of the title favorites did everything right in the opening two sets, scoring four breaks and never facing a break point to move a set away from the triumph. And then I thought I started playing well midway through the second set.

Elsewhere, American world No.13 Sam Querrey eliminated Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 6-3 while Russia's Daniil Medvedev, earned a straight-set victory over world Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 6-3 6-4 6-2.

Milos Raonic serves to John Millman at Wimbledon on July 4.
