The DOJ inspector general's report: Hillary Clinton has good reason to complain

President Donald Trump on Friday called a new report by the Justice Department "a total disaster" for both former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey and the institution he once led and highlighted one of its more damaging revelations in a series of morning tweets.

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page instructed her colleagues to go easy on Hillary Clinton during the FBI's email investigation, because "she might be our next president", according to a Justice Department inspector general report released Thursday.

As per the Fox news, the report drafted by Horowitz retrieved new text messages exchanged between agent Peter Strzok, and Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer Lisa Page who are considered to be in a relationship.

The text exchange between Strzok and Page has been exhibit A for the FBI's critics that the agency was rankled with anti-Trump bias during the 2016 election, and the latest text exchange is certainly explicit. "No he won't. We'll stop it".

"W$3 hat they did was incredible and a real insult to millions of people that voted in that election on both sides", Trump said.

Comey also wrote an opinion piece in The New York Times responding to the report's findings.

The report branded Mr Comey as insubordinate for repeatedly breaking with Justice Department protocol in his handling of the email probe in the explosive final months of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Still, Miller said he was not surprised by the inspector general's conclusion that Comey's actions weren't motivated by political bias.

But the nuanced findings provide no conclusions to support Republicans and Democrats who want to claim total vindication.

Even so, the Justice Department's Inspector General found no fault in the decision announced by Comey on 5 July, 2016 that Clinton should not face prosecution for placing classified materials on her personal email server while she was secretary of state.
