Donald Trump: Top economies should drop all tariffs

Justin Trudeau Canada's prime minister speaks during the closing press conference of the Group of Seven Leaders Summit in La Malbaie Quebec Canada on Saturday

Trump's salvo capped a dizzying two days of controversies that began with his suggestion Russian Federation be readmitted to the G7, then what a French official described as a "rant" full of "recriminations" against USA trading partners, followed by Trump's denial of any contention with leaders at the summit and his description of their relationship as a "10".

Trudeau made the remarks when he met with Trump during the G7 Summit in Charlevoix, Quebec, Canada on Friday, according to the official G7 website.

Trump says Trudeau acted so meek and mild during the G7 meetings only to give a news conference afterwards saying that, "US Tariffs were kind of insulting" and he "will not be pushed around".

One Twitter user named Nick Wenmaekers tweeted that Macron won "the handshake game".

The US leader had left the summit early en route for Singapore and a historic nuclear summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un, only to take exception to comments made by Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a news conference on the ground in Quebec.

Friday morning he was spitting again: "Canada charges the USA a 270% tariff on Dairy Products!" All of his answers tracked with what he's said in the past, but they set Trump off.

Mr Trump gave "a long, frank rant", the official said, repeating a position he carried through the 2016 U.S. election campaign into the White House that the United States had suffered at the hands of its trading partners, with French President Emmanuel Macron pushing back on the assertion and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe chiming in.

Other G7 leaders, including British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, have also spoken out against the USA tariffs.

"Day two of the G7 summit in Canada: spontaneous meeting between two working sessions".

Trump injected levity into his photo-op with Trudeau before the start of their meeting.

In a thinly veiled swipe at the United States, the PM said "not all countries play by the rules" and insisted "just because a country has issues with its trading partners, it doesn't mean that you take unilateral against them".

The prospect that he could be moving towards an even greater protectionist trade policy is likely to chill financial markets anxious about tit-for-tit escalation that could lead to a full-blown global trade war.

Canada and other allies have vigorously pushed back, arguing that trade between the USA and its allies has no impact on national security.

Late Tuesday, West shared a screenshot of an article about Spade's passing, adding a message of "love" for Spade and her family . Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan , is survived by her teenage daughter, Frances, and her husband, Andy.

The group could now be facing an existential crisis.

US President Donald Trump has left following his brief trip to Canada saying his relationship with the G7 countries is a 10 out of 10, and reports of rifts between the powerful countries are simply "fake news". In 2003, France and Germany broke with the United States in a bitter dispute over the USA invasion of Iraq.

The other G7 leaders will meet without him for the rest of the day, discussing climate change and global development. But if steps aren't taken, he said, the penalties would be severe.

Trudeau highlighted what he saw as one of the Quebec summit's most-important results.

"Canadians are polite and reasonable but we will also not be pushed around", he said.

"And on that, this was certainly a success".

The U.S. president is lashing out on several fronts. He has threatened similar action against the auto industry.

The president repeated his tough stance on tariffs, saying allies had been "taking advantage" of the United States on trade. "But we moved things forward in a significant way to build a consensus around many big issues that we were called on to address together".

Trudeau called the fact that the USA had based the tariffs on a national security reason "kind of insulting".

Relations have hit such a low point that a key question now is whether the seven countries can agree on a joint statement of priorities at the conclusion of the meeting.

Trump said: "If they retaliate they are making a mistake".

Many Europeans view Trump's claim that climate change is a hoax, his policies on immigration, his racial and religious rhetoric and his "America First" ideology as antithetical to European values.

The weekend meeting marked the first time other countries began employing new way of dealing with Trump in person, pushing back on his declarations and threats and trying to illustrate the damage he was doing to the USA economy. "If it doesn't happen, we come out even better!"
